Thames Water
About the project
We were proud to work alongside Sign FX on a high-profile branding project for Thames Water, designing and applying livery for their fleet of container lorries—used to transport clean water across the network—as well as a selection of maintenance vans operated by their field engineers.
The brief was to create a clean, professional, and instantly recognisable look that aligned with Thames Water’s established brand identity. As well as being visually consistent, the livery had to be durable and clearly visible in a range of operational conditions. Our job was to ensure a consistent application of the design across a variety of vehicle types and sizes, from large articulated water carriers to smaller service vans.
Working closely with the team at Sign FX, we helped adapt the branding to suit different vehicle dimensions, ensuring logos, messaging and design elements were scaled and positioned correctly. Each element of the livery was carefully cut and fitted using high-quality vinyl, and we incorporated reflective, high-visibility details where required to meet safety regulations for vehicles working in and around public roads.
One of the key challenges in this project was achieving clean, consistent visual results across a varied fleet, particularly given the complex curves and bodywork of some of the lorries. We also had to plan around the operational needs of Thames Water, ensuring that vehicles could return to service as quickly as possible with minimal disruption. The livery had to withstand the demands of both urban and rural environments, so material choice and application precision were critical to long-term performance.
The completed fleet now presents a strong and consistent brand image on the road, reinforcing Thames Water’s identity and their reputation for professionalism and reliability. The livery serves not just a functional role but also helps build brand recognition as these vehicles travel across the region.
